How to Apply
Fall 2010

The UC Merced application for Fall 2010 is closed.
However, UC Merced is currently accepting appeals to submit late applications fro
m students who missed the December 15th deadline due to unforeseen circumstances.
UC Merced may decide to stop accepting appeals without advanced notice, so we encourage you to read all information and commplete all requirements without delay. Students whose appeals to apply are accepted will be notified within three (3) business days of receipt. To submit an appeal to apply late to UC Merced, download, print and complete this form. Follow the instructions on the form to return it to the UC Merced Admissions Office.
IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU SHOULD ONLY COMPLETE THE APPEAL FORM IF YOU DID NOT SUBMIT A FALL 2010 APPLICATION TO ANY UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA CAMPUS. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY APPLIED TO A UC, PLEASE REFERENCE BELOW INFORMATION ABOUT ADDING UC MERCED AS A CAMPUS CHOICE. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL (209) 228-6994.
Adding UC Merced as a Campus Choice:
If you have already submitted your University of California application to one or more of our sister campuses and would like to be considered for admission to UC Merced, send an e-mail to jbarron3@ucmerced.edu. Please explain your reason for adding UC Merced at this time.
Also, you must include:
- Application ID number
- UC Merced as the campus name
- Major to which you wish to apply
- Check or money order for $60 for each additional campus ($70 for international applicants), payable to the Regents of the University of California. See below information regarding fee waivers
Spring 2010
The spring priority filing period has closed.
A couple of important tips for applicants:
- Remember to reference your transcripts so you can report your grades accurately on your application.
- Freshman applicants must submit the following test scores:
- The ACT Assessment plus Writing or the SAT Reasoning Test
- Two SAT Subject Tests in two different areas, chosen from the following: history, literature, mathematics (Level 2 only), science or language other than English
Students applying for admission to the fall term should take these tests no later than December. For more information including test dates, visit the ACT Web site at www.act.org or the SAT Web site at www.collegeboard.com.
Qualifying for a Fee Waiver - Fall and Spring
The University of California will waive application fees for up to four campuses for qualified students who otherwise would be unable to apply for admission. Students who qualify for fee waivers and who select more than four campuses must pay $60 for each additional campus choice. To be accepted for the fee waiver program, you must meet specific requirements related to your family income and size.
You can apply for a fee waiver within the online application and be notified immediately whether you have qualified. The fee waiver program is for United States citizens and permanent residents only.
