Your next steps after receiving a MAAP notice

Find guidance based on the notice you received from the Merced Automatic Admission Program (MAAP).

If you were admitted through MAAP

What does my MAAP admission mean?

Congratulations! You’ve earned guaranteed admission to UC Merced for Fall 2027, as long as you maintain your MAAP eligibility.

Do I need to submit a UC application if UC Merced is my only UC campus?

If UC Merced is your only UC campus and you aren’t applying to SJV PRIME+, you don’t need to do anything right now. In December, the University of California will complete your UC Merced application, waive the application fee, and email you your UC Application ID.

What if I’m applying to other UC campuses or to SJV PRIME+?

If you’re applying to other UC campuses, submit the full UC application by November 30. If you’re applying to SJV PRIME+, submit it by November 20, even if UC Merced is your only UC campus.

Will I receive a MAAP scholarship?

Yes. If you were admitted through MAAP and enroll at UC Merced, you’ll receive a renewable scholarship of $3,000 per year for up to four consecutive years—up to $12,000 total.

If your MAAP decision was deferred

What does a deferred decision mean? Can I still get into UC Merced?

Yes. We need more information before we can make a Fall 2027 admission decision. Submit the full UC application and select UC Merced, even if it’s your only UC campus. Apply by November 30, or by November 20 if you’re applying to SJV PRIME+.

Can I still qualify for the scholarship?

Yes. If you submit the UC application and are admitted to UC Merced, you may still qualify for a renewable scholarship of $3,000 per year for up to four consecutive years—up to $12,000 total.

When could I hear back from UC Merced?

UC Merced expects to begin releasing Fall 2027 first-year admission decisions as early as mid- to late December.

If your high school isn’t a MAAP partner

What does that mean for me?

Guaranteed admission through MAAP is available to eligible students at participating high schools. You can still apply to UC Merced for Fall 2027.
