What is Opt In To UC Merced?

The University of California provides a world-class education, and we are committed to ensuring enrollment opportunities for all qualified high school graduates or transfer students. As a result, UC Merced provides an invitation-only program for UC applicants who have not gained admission to campuses to which they applied, offering them the opportunity to be considered for admission to UC Merced.

Next Steps

Now that you have been invited to the Opt In program, here are the next steps:

  • Verify your invitation using your application information.
  • Choose your major, agree to the conditions, and submit your acceptance.
  • You will receive an email confirmation.
  • Add UC Merced to your FAFSA or Dream Act as soon as possible.
  • Wait for your admission decision.
  • Research housing and student programs.
  • Wait for financial aid award information, if applicable.
  • Compare your options.
  • Decide that UC Merced is Paw-fect!
  • Submit your Statement of Intent to Register by the provided deadline.

Important Dates

  • Submit the Opt In form by the date listed in your email.
  • Admissions will notify you within 2 to 3 weeks after submission.

If you received a non-passing grade or will not complete courses listed as in progress or planned, notify us through the Connect app under My Course Updates. You will receive access instructions via email after submitting your application.
