Frequently Asked Questions
On this page:
1. How much will it cost to attend UC Merced?
As an international undergraduate student, you will be required to register full-time (a minimum of 12 credits each semester). You must pay out-of-state tuition, which is higher than the amount paid by California residents, and you cannot declare residency. Check the UC Merced Registrar’s website or the Office of International Affairs website for a cost breakdown.
2. Can I apply for financial aid or scholarships?
To qualify for federal, state and most university funding, you must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen, and you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or you must qualify under the California Dream Act of 2011 and complete a California Dream Act application.
Some financial aid is available for international students who are not eligible to submit a FAFSA.
