Merced Automatic Admission Program (MAAP)

The University of California, Merced has partnered with school districts and high schools throughout California to connect eligible students with a clear path to UC Merced. Through MAAP, students benefit from a simplified application process, scholarship opportunities, and the confidence of a guaranteed admission pathway upon completion of program requirements.

**Admission is guaranteed for students who continue to meet program requirements and UC Merced’s Conditions of Admission. The guarantee does not apply to selective programs or scholarships that require a separate application and review process

What majors are available? 

  • Students can select any UC Merced undergraduate major. There are no selective majors at the first-year level. 
  • The guarantee does not apply to selective programs that require a supplemental application, such as Fiat Lux, the Honors Program, and San Joaquin Valley PRIME+. 

 

Who can apply? 

A successful applicant must be: 

  • Currently enrolled in high school, graduating next spring from one of the partner school districts listed above. 
  • On track to meet the minimum UC admission requirements.

 

How do I apply for MAAP? 

IF THE ONLY UC CAMPUS YOU ARE APPLYING TO IS UC MERCED: 

  • You must complete the following sections of the UC Application by September 30: 
    • About you    
    • Campuses & majors (do not select other campuses)  
    • Academic history – High schools page only; select the schools you're graduating from. You do not need to complete the page. You can "Skip the page for now" when an error message is displayed. 
    • Scholarships & support programs 
  • Do not submit the application. 
  • Merced will notify you if you are admitted to UC Merced through MAAP no later than mid-October. 
  • If you are admitted, UC will complete the application for you during December. You will receive an email notification with your UC Application ID. The application fee is waived. 

 

IF YOU INTEND TO APPLY TO MULTIPLE UC CAMPUSES INCLUDING UC MERCED OR ARE INTERESTED IN THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY PRIME+ PROGRAM AT UC MERCED:  

  • You must complete the following sections of the application by September 30
    • About you 
    • Campuses & majors – select Merced & major by September 30. You can select additional campuses at the same time, or later before you submit. 
    • Academic history – High schools page only; select the schools you're graduating from. You do not need to complete the page by September 30. 
    • You can "Skip the page for now" when an error message is displayed.
    • Scholarships & support programs 
  • Merced will notify you if you are admitted to UC Merced through MAAP no later than mid-October. 
  • Since you are interested in applying to multiple UC campuses and/or a selective program at UC Merced, you must complete the full UC application, without errors, and submit by the November 30 deadline.  
  • Students applying to the San Joaquin Valley PRIME + Program at UC Merced must submit their completed UC application no later than November 20th to receive access to the supplemental application. 
  • If you are admitted to UC Merced through MAAP after you submit your UC application, the Merced application fee will be refunded if you paid in full. If you submit your UC application after MAAP is approved, the Merced application fee will be waived during the payment process. 

 

What if I'm not approved for MAAP? Can I still apply to UC Merced? 

Yes, you can still apply to UC Merced and other University of California campuses until November 30. 

Scholarship Announcement!

If you apply for MAAP and meet the criteria, you’ll be eligible for a $3,000 per year scholarship (renewable for up to four years while maintaining eligibility)!

MAAP Requirements:

  • Indicate your interest in MAAP through your UC application by September 30. 
  • Complete 15 yearlong A-G courses required for first year UC admission with a weighted GPA of 3.0 or better.
